DIRECTOR, PUBLIC RELATIONS

About the Role:
We are seeking a Director to join our Public Relations team. Buffalo Groupe’s Directors are trusted communications and marketing advisors, strategic partners to our clients, and key leaders within our agency. Serving as the day-to-day account leaders, they focus on delivering strategically planned and flawlessly executed integrated PR and marketing programs that meet client goals. Directors are responsible for leading high-performing, collaborative teams in alignment with Buffalo’s values. They identify and inspire new work streams, solutions, and innovative approaches that result in thriving teams, client growth, and the advancement of the agency.
We work primarily in golf, real estate, and adjacent industries—so an interest in lifestyle, sports, or premium brand categories is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Role:
- Build and nurture client relationships and grow business by providing leadership, direction, and strategic guidance to colleagues, day-to-day teams, and client contacts.
- Serve as the strategic lead with clients, integrating expertise and partnership from the broader Buffalo network. This includes building strong client relationships, proactively delivering counsel to clients, developing and executing strategic plans, overseeing day-to-day program execution, and using reporting tools to measure success against defined goals.
- Manage the work of several team members, ensuring high-quality client deliverables.
- Oversee and manage account financials, including pricing, staffing (planning and utilization), SOW development, and client procurement process.
- Drive ongoing business development and growth within your account portfolio and support the agency in opportunistic pitches, ideation, and overall quality/health of the business.
- Drive talent development for colleagues whom you manage directly or indirectly. Mentor, motivate, coach, consistently provide feedback, hold them accountable, and conduct performance reviews.

What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in PR, including agency experience working on integrated communications campaigns
- Experience building and enhancing relationships with clients from day-to-day to most senior levels within the organization
- Strong collaborator and mentor with the ability to bring out the best in team members to produce great work for clients
- Strong track record of leading data-driven and well-researched traditional and integrated communications programs across internal and external channels
- Strong PR skills including earned media strategy development, story ideation and pitching, as well as experience in or familiarity with strategic communications disciplines including thought leadership, crisis communications, and internal communications
- A keen understanding of financial and operational performance of multiple sizable accounts to ensure quality work, deadline, and budget adherence
- Superior written and verbal communications and presentation skills, along with the proven ability to consistently make sound judgments and effectively motivate and manage teams
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation-development skills; project management skills; and consultative skills (including effective questions, critical thinking, client management, and framework and methodology application)
- Experience with golf tournament communications and public relations preferred but not required
- Ability to command a room as a dynamic speaker with strategic credibility

- Familiarity with integrated marketing disciplines and deliverables such as strategic planning, creative ideation and production, social media and editorial content, influencer marketing, digital marketing, and data/research
