Work Location: Remote/hybrid (with geographic requirements)

Location Requirements: Candidate must reside in Charleston, South Carolina or the Washington, D.C. metro area. While most day-to-day work will be remote, the role will require occasional travel to the applicable local office.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations, ensure financial integrity, and drive robust financial reporting. You will oversee all aspects of accounting – including monthly closing processes, financial statement preparation, internal controls, tax compliance, and financial planning and analysis.

As a key partner to the finance leadership team, you will establish strong financial guardrails and streamline processes to support company growth.

  • Manage full-cycle accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, General Leger, Payroll and Bank Reconciliations
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes to ensure accurate, timely GAAP-compliant reporting
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports for executive leadership
  • Oversee cash flow management, treasury functions, and cash forecasting
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal control policies and operating procedures
  • Manage state, local, and federal tax filings, business licenses, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Coordinate and lead external audits, serving as the primary point of contact for accounting auditors
  • Work with senior leadership to develop annual budgets including revenue growth assumptions, merit increases, and expense projections
  • Compare actuals to budget and update forecast, evaluating whether budget assumptions need to be modified
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred)
  • Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a Manager or Assistant Controller role
  • Public accounting (Big 4 or regional) experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, hands-on experience with modern ERP systems and automated accounting software
  • Genuine interest in golf, travel, and destination-driven categories
  • Familiarity with the golf ecosystem and adjacent markets such as private clubs, golf communities, resort real estate, and sports
  • Ability to understand and market to high-intent, high-consideration consumers
  • Efficient, scalable SEM programs driven by strong data inputs and platform capabilities
  • Clear, actionable performance insights that inform strategy
  • Strong leadership and development of the SEM Manager
  • Effective collaboration across paid media and partner teams
  • Thoughtful adoption of new capabilities that improve performance without unnecessary complexity

The anticipated salary range for this role is $125,000 – $155,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
